Old Business
:

1st VP, Terry Witt thanked everyone for their support and stated that our anniversary dance is this week and we have 12 banners on the wall, with only one out at Texoma Squares. The past quarter we went on 8 visitations. For the VIP drawing, we need at least two visitations per quarter. Past winners were: Pat Walker, Barbara Perkins, Shirley Cleveland, Alan Mussler, Roy Schneider and Velma Hess.

2nd VP Paula Martin handed out this quarters schedules. If you did not receive one, you don’t have a job this quarter. If you will not be able to attend and do your job on the date scheduled, it is your job to trade with someone, then let Paula know who you traded with. Two couples per dance are scheduled for refreshments unless it is expected to be a large dance.

Reporter, Sharon Clark was not present to report as she was attending a JOY outing with the church.

Nortex Roundup Chairperson Pat Hooper explained to the new dancers that Nortex is the governing body for North Texas Square Dancers and that Roundup is their one big fund raiser for the year. Circle I has close ties with Nortex - 5 presidents of Nortex have come from Circle I, one being the present Presidents Kay & Larry Horstmann. The Officer’s Installation Dance this year is in June at Swingtime. Roundup is November 1st at the Grapevine Convention Center and Circle I is in charge of Admissions this year, meaning all of us will need to work. The Texas Motor Speedway has a race that same weekend, but the main problem would be hotel rooms and since we live in Irving, we should not have a problem. She explained Caller’s Cavalcade is the Caller’s Association dance the night before Roundup. Their income supports scholarships for new callers and subsidizes lessons. We need to support them.

Jim Young our Guest Caller Chairman, has callers scheduled through February 2009. Please let him know if you have a caller you would like for us to get.

Social Chairperson, Dot Lewis, thanked all who decorated for the Valentine Party and said and worked so hard on food, etc. It was a huge success, there were 73 members present. Sorry Lo and Gene were not present she really wanted to thank them. She said all ladies present must have been blown away that we had almost 100% participation by the men’s valentines for their wives.

Special Dance Chairperson, Sue Dickey reminded us that we have Roundup coming up.
